2016 Summer Reading Program
Approximately 65 children and adults attended the Summer Reading Program Kick-Off with Magician Jeff Quinn, at the library on Friday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m.   He amazed the captive audience with many magical tricks and illusions for approximatley an hour.  Volunteers eager to assist the Magician were Noah Garcia, Kaydence La Puzza and others.  "Magician Jeff Quinn has been doing our Kick-Off for Summer Reading for many, many years", said Director Julie Jorgensen,  "and he always draws a crowd!  The kids love him!"   Book bags were distributed with registration forms, as well as activities for the children to do, to earn coins to shop at the Rewards Store in the library.  If you or your child/children were unable to attend, a book bag may be obtained at the library during open hours.  The Rewards Store opened on Saturday, June 25th.  Refreshments concluded the fun filled evening.   


Waterloo Library Hosts "Spooktacular" Event!

It was a "bewitching" evening at the Agnes Robinson Waterloo Public Library on Halloween night thanks to TDH Contracting, Roofing, Siding, and Drywall, who sponsored the October activities.  Approximately 75 to 85 people attended the "spooktacular" event.  Winners were selected for costumes, coloring contest entries, pumpkin carving, and guessing the number of candy corns in a jar.  "Our library has been hosting this Halloween event for many years now, stated Library Director Julie Jorgensen, and it has become quite a tradition that the community looks forward to each year.  The adults, as well as the children really get into the Halloween spirit.  It was a fun night!


Ada Pleas (with her mom Laura Pleas) won the Coloring Contest for ages 4 and under.

Eva Hert won the Coloring Contest for ages 5 - 8.

Madison TenEyck won the Coloring Contest for ages 9 -12.

THE HONORABLE HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST JUDGES for this event were Kathy Tooker,  Kim Spicka, and Cheryl Robinson.


Costume Contest winners for ages 0-4 were 1st, Miriam Klingforth (Baby Miriam with mom Callie Klingforth); 2nd , Eva Mendoza (Baby Eva with mom Caitlyn Mendoza); and 3rd Ethan Oyster.

Costume Contest winners for ages 5 - 8 were (l - r):  1st, Chloe Acton; 3rd,Bobbie Houmard; and 2nd,Breonna Houmard.

Costume contest winners for ages 9 - 12 were (l-r) 1st, Jewel Van Steensyk; 3rd, Makynna Ten Eyck; and 2nd, Ruby Can Steenwyk.

The Costume Contest winner for ages 13 - 17 was Amethyst Van Steenwyk.

Costume Contest winners for ages 18 and over were (l - r): 1st, Betty Johnson; 3rd, - Hanna and JT Oltman; and 2nd, Lily Solis.


Melissa Sandoval and her mom, Monica Sandoval, accept 2nd place in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest.  Monica also accepted 1st place on behalf of her son, Adrian.

Thom Oyster and his son, Ethan earned 3rd place in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

Randy Albrecht won 4th place in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest.


Ethan Oyster won the Candy Corn Contest, guessing 388, just one away from the actual total of 389 winning the jar of candy!


Wildlife Encounters 2016!

A real wildlife adventure featuring live, exotic animals and fun facts!

Approximately 85 children and adults enjoyed this family night event presented by Wildlife Encounters on Friday, June 24th!  Some of the animals making an appearance were a Desert Tortoise, a Red Milk Snake, a Desert Fox, a Kookaburra Bird, an American Alligator.  The children enjoyed the educational program and learning about the different habitats of the varied animals.   Some of the children even  enjoyed touching the wildlife that was ;resented.
